Lapazio Film is an independent film production and distribution company that moves across the boundaries of genres and languages.

From live action to animation, from documentary to archive, its films weave together different forms and styles to tell contemporary stories with a free and experimental approach. The company produces short films, feature films, series, commercials, music videos, animations in various techniques, and also provides post-production services, offering comprehensive solutions for every need in the audiovisual field. The team draws inspiration from its symbol – the lapazio plant (Rumex) – embodying its ability to adapt to diverse contexts and to transform alongside the protagonists of the stories it tells.

CHIARA MAROTTA

Co-founder

Chiara Marotta is a director, editor, and producer, co-founder of Lapazio Film. She has produced films that have been selected and awarded at major film festivals such as the Venice International Film Festival, Sundance, and Locarno. She directed the short films “Veronica Doesn’t Smoke” and “The Shift”, screened respectively in competition at Venice Critics’ Week and Venice Film Festival – Orizzonti, as well as the feature documentary “The Moment of Transition”, produced by Rai Cinema, which premiered at IDFA and won an award at Festival dei Popoli, earning her the Solinas Prize. As an editor, she has received several awards at renowned festivals including the Venice Film Festival and the Brooklyn Film Festival. She has also worked on commercials, music videos, and video installations.

LORIS G. NESE

Co-founder

Loris G. Nese is a director, screenwriter, animator, and cinematographer, co-founder of Lapazio Film. In 2018, his short film “Those Bad Things” was awarded at Venice Critics’ Week and selected at Sundance. Two years later, “Bad Mood” won prizes in Turin Film Festival, DOK Leipzig, and Krakow Film Festival, and was selected at Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Atlanta, Slamdance, and Belfort Entrevues. In 2021, “The Shift” competed in Venice International Film Festival – Orizzonti and at Palm Springs International Short Fest. In 2023, “Z.O. – Eastern Zone” won awards at Locarno and Brooklyn Film Festival, and was in competition at Rome Film Fest – Alice nella Città and Cinemed of Montpellier. His first feature film, “A Near Thing”, was selected at the 82. Venice International Film Festival – Giornate degli Autori.
